Beauty dupes

Lactic acid is my favorite acid. They are gentle yet effective for renewing the skin (the one time when renewing means what it means, not just a marketing word). If you are in the same boat, you must have come across Sunday Riely Good Genes. As good as it is, 1oz of it costs $85!!!

A really good comparable dupe is the Peach & Lily Lactic Acid Repair Serum, 10% lactic acid. Itā€™s 50% off today at Ulta.

Effective

I went back to wearing the Kiss Me mascara which is really great for holding a curl but is notorious for being difficult to move.

The one makeup remover that always gets the job done without fail is the Japanese drugstore eye makeup remover Bifesta ($10). Iā€™ve used up many bottles.

Allure

The Daisy Jones and The Six crew at their premier. Wow! Beauty is simplicity.

Unconventional

Haeckels, a UK-based beauty brand thatā€™s known for its sustainability effort in the space, has launched a skincare line with lab-grown bio-fabricated algae.

What does this mean?

It means, unlike La Mer, Haeckels no longer need to take the kelp from the ocean to put into their products. Pretty revolutionary.

Tea

Continued on The Daisy Jones and The Six topic. I found this out on TikTok (cannot find the post to link to šŸ˜¢) but I noted the info down.

They used a lot of MAC products on Daisy.

For the stage look, they used MAC lip pencil in Brick (intense golden red)

For the 90s look in the interview, they used the MAC lip pencil in Chicory for a muted reddish brown look. Beautiful!

You

If you are tired of influencers rambling and describing products as ā€œgoodā€ or ā€œbadā€ without giving more details, and you are looking for some deep-dive sensible review, we love Sophia Sees Beauty.

Her full-time job is as a product manager. So she approaches all product reviews in a structured way: thoughts, swatches, demos, and comparisons. You never finished a video thinking:ā€ damnā€¦thatā€™s a waste of timeā€. We found so many dupes from her comparisons.

Thatā€™s all for this week. Hope the daylight saving adjustment didnā€™t hit you too hard šŸ˜‰
